Almost one year after the announcement of their union garnered some intense reactions from the public, the daughter of Jacob Zuma, Nomcebo Zuma has reportedly fled the Eswatini Royal House, citing a lack of attention from her husband, King Mswati III.

Each year, the Kingdom hosts a reed dance ceremony known as Umhlanga, where girls and young women gather to celebrate Swazi culture. The 2024 edition of this highly anticipated country-wide event was like no other, as it marked the announcement of Nomcebo, as King Mswati’s 16th wife.

According to Sunday World, Nomcebo Zuma, 21, daughter of Former President Jacob Zuma, was this week unveiled as King Mswati III’s official girlfriend in eSwatini.

Nine months later, the monarch’s most recent wife has reportedly fled the royal palace and returned to her home in Nkandla. According to Swaziland News, the King’s departed new wife expressed dissatisfaction with her husband only spending three months with her after their wedding, claiming that “she can’t tolerate spending months without seeing her husband,” as per the aforementioned publication.

Previously, the King would dedicate his time to his newest wife, up until she was with child, and then move on to the other wives. However, this was not the case with Inkhosikati LaZuma, which could be one of the reasons the young wife expressed frustration with the dynamic of her new marriage. Furthermore, the significant age gap between the couple has also raised some questions for some members of the public, who cannot help but wonder whether it played a role in the marriage hitting the rocks.
