The Table Mountain Aerial Cableway Company (TMACC) has secured its first-ever nomination in the prestigious World MICE Awards, putting Cape Town’s iconic landmark in the running for Africa’s premier event venue.
The Twelve Apostles Terrace, an open-air events space perched atop one of the New7Wonders of Nature, is competing in the ‘Best Africa MICE Event Venue’ category. It faces stiff competition from renowned venues such as Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens, The Events Train by Rovos Rail, The Boma, and Le Jardin Secret in Marrakech.
A venue like no other
MICE tourism – encompassing Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions – is a booming global industry, and the World MICE Awards recognise the finest venues worldwide. For TMACC, this nomination is a testament to its growing reputation as a world-class events destination.
‘We are overwhelmed by the nomination,’ says Selma Hercules, who is the TMACC Executive Director. ‘TMACC positions itself as a premier venue for various events, using our iconic location and awe-inspiring views. This combination is exactly why the Twelve Apostles Terrace is so popular. It shows our global peers are noticing the venue as a phenomenal event space.‘
The spacious terrace can host up to 200 guests for cocktail events, product launches and corporate functions, though all events require approval from SANParks due to its location within Table Mountain National Park.
Weather-dependent but unforgettable, the venue has become a favourite for high-profile gatherings.

Win for Cape Town’s global appeal
A victory for the Twelve Apostles Terrace would do more than just celebrate a single venue; it would reinforce Cape Town’s standing as a leading MICE destination. With its natural grandeur, top-tier facilities, and unmatched ambiance, Table Mountain has long been a jewel in South Africa’s tourism crown. Now, it has the chance to shine on the global stage.
But beyond accolades, this nomination highlights a broader truth: iconic landmarks can be more than tourist attractions; they can also be world-class event spaces. Whether hosting an intimate sunset gathering or a grand corporate affair, few places rival the drama and prestige of Table Mountain.
The next few months will determine if the World MICE Awards agree. One thing is certain: Table Mountain has already won the hearts of millions. Now, it’s time to win the title.
