One of the country’s biggest A-listers, DJ Tira, is pulling out all the stops to ensure that his guests are kept well entertained at this year’s premium horse racing event – the Durban July.
This year marks the fourteenth year that the renowned musician will be hosting a marquee, and with this comes years’ worth of experience and knowing what will tickle the fancy of those coming to attend the event.
With this year’s theme being “Marvels of Mzansi” the Afrotainment boss has gathered a group of exciting performers to grace the stage. These will consist of Zee Nxumalo, Mawhoo, DJ Maphorisa, Ashley Ogle, and Sweet Guluva, all of whom recently gathered at the Avianto Hotel in Muldersdrift for a photoshoot in preparation for the event.
In conversation with the entertainment publication TshisaLive, Tira shared more about how he managed to maintain the longevity of these events.
“The love and passion for what I do is what keeps me going,” he revealed.
“I love entertainment, I love looking good. I love being a leader. I love showing the way. And now I am showing the way for Durban July, how to dress and how to look.”

Speaking on his artist selection for this year’s event, he added:
“We always work with who’s hot. When it comes to the Afrotainment shoot, we always work with whose currently trending.”
