Liverpool are closing in on Dutch full-back Jeremie Frimpong, whose £30m release clause makes him a risk-free replacement for the outgoing Trent Alexander-Arnold, writes Dylan Johnson.

With Alexander-Arnold Madrid-bound, Liverpool see Frimpong as a high-upside option to refresh the right flank.

Writing for Soccermag, Johnson explains how the 24-year-old has thrived under Xabi Alonso at Leverkusen, registering 30 goals and 44 assists across more than 190 games. Though more winger than traditional full-back, Frimpong’s pace, dribbling and attacking threat have made him a standout.

Arne Slot must now weigh whether to adjust his system to accommodate Frimpong’s style or balance him with the more defensive Conor Bradley. Still just 21, Bradley offers solidity, while Frimpong brings game-breaking qualities. For £30m and with homegrown status, Frimpong represents both a tactical gamble and a potential masterstroke.
