The mindset trick that helps goals become reality

by Akhona Ndlela

We’ve all been there, energised by a new goal in mind, experiencing the joy of a new beginning.

However, the spark fades after a few days or weeks. Life becomes hectic. Doubt begins to sneak in. And gradually, that objective begins to fade away once more, but what if you, your drive, or your preparation aren’t the issue here? What if it’s the attitude that underlies everything?

In actuality, reaching your goals requires more than just discipline. It involves changing the way you view yourself in connection with the goal.

One mindset trick that actually works? Let’s find out from the experts below:

Success Consciousness claims that setting clear objectives and embracing a growth mindset can greatly improve goal achievement. Perceiving failure as constructive criticism promotes ongoing education and development. Be in the company of positive, growth-oriented individuals who remain resilient in the face of adversity. Confidence and drive are increased when big goals are broken down into smaller, more achievable activities.

Meanwhile, Psychology Today states that giving up on goals is sometimes the result of the “what-the-hell effect” or “What’s the point, anyway?” Rather, concentrate on taking baby steps and recommitting every so often. In order to improve your behaviour, practise self-compassion when you veer off course. By altering your surroundings, you can make healthy decisions easier for yourself. For example, pack your exercise bag, avoid processed foods, and empty your freezer.

According to the above source, “Although it might be hard to see how gratitude has anything to do with achieving your goals, research has shown that being grateful for small and large things in your life tends to be energising and motivating in making steps toward self-improvement.”
