Meet the eclectic Soul singer, songwriter, and performing artist Malaika “Lykah” Gcobo who holds a BA in live performance and the founder of Choxen Factory with the initiative, “The Fusion Volumes” movement that serves as a forum for collaboration amongst artists working in various media, genres, styles, and art forms.

This emerging star has formally begun her musical career, and it is obvious that she intends to stay. Malaika’s debut album is a celebration of everything that she has accomplished and all that lies ahead, featuring her talent, soulful voice, unwavering love for music, and connecting with other multitalented individuals.

Speaking to TshisaLive Malaika touched on the importance of collaborating with different artists, stating, “The identified art form for the inaugural project for Fusion Volumes 1 is music, with 10 artists comprising poets and musicians randomly paired to collaborate, forming five groups, each tasked to create a music piece that will form part of a collaboration EP.”

She also told the above entertainment publication that the issue that this movement aims to address is that we are encouraging teamwork as a currency while giving aspiring artists a platform to display their skills and make money. We accomplish this by bringing them together to jointly develop goods that will generate revenue for them.

TshisaLive further adds, “The theme of the EP Fusion Volume 1: Synaesthesia Unravelled has been translated by allocating a colour for each of the five songs: mahogany, red, green, yellow and turquoise, inspiring each pair of artists to write a song with the chosen colour in mind.”
