Actress and television personality Denise Zimba recently found herself grappling with significant financial challenges following a protracted legal battle with her ex-husband, Jakob Schlichting, over the custody of their two children.

The Johannesburg High Court ruled in favour of Jakob, permitting him to take their daughters, aged five and 19 months, back to Germany and granting him sole custody.

According to TimesLive, the legal proceedings left Denise with substantial debts, reportedly amounting to R300,000, incurred from legal services during the custody dispute.

This financial strain adds to the emotional toll of being separated from her children, a situation that has elicited public sympathy and support for the actress.

Allegations of infidelity marred the dissolution of Denise and Jakob’s marriage, according to Briefly News.

She accused her ex of having an affair with her close friend of 14 years, Mpumi Mdluli, a betrayal that led to the end of their two-year marriage.

This personal turmoil has been compounded by the recent court ruling, which has been criticized by advocacy groups such as Women For Change.

The organization condemned the decision as unjust and expressed solidarity with Denise, stating, “We stand with Denise and every mother who has had to fight – often alone, often unheard, and too often losing.”

In the aftermath of the court’s decision, Denise has been vocal about her struggles, both emotionally and financially.

She shared her experiences on social media, highlighting the challenges of rebuilding her life post-divorce and the heartbreak of being separated from her children.

Despite these hardships, Denise has shown resilience, focusing on her career and personal growth.

She recently launched a new Afrikaans reality show, signaling her determination to move forward despite setbacks.

Denise will be joined by co-hosts Cindy Nell-Roberts, Dr Zak Schabort, and Mooi Praatjies, who will tackle all things beauty, self-care, and wellness.
