Malaika’s Bongani Nchang mourns the passing of his mother

by Sergio Miller

The death of a loved one can be a painful experience for any person, the hurt cuts even deeper if that person was someone you held the closest to your heart.

Lead singer of the renowned singing group Malaika, Bongani Nchang, has recently found himself in a state of mourning following the passing of his mother Kedibone Nchang.

It is reported that the 74-year-old passed away last Wednesday, however, the exact details that led to her death remain unknown.

In a recent interview with the entertainment publication TshisaLive, the multi-award winning singer revealed that he was still at a loss for words and highlighted the big role she has played in his life.

Speaking to the above-mentioned publication, he went on to describe her as being his “everything.”

“This phase will remain a wound in me together with the rest of my family. My mom was our hero — we received strength from her when things weren’t going our way,” he said.

“In this time of need, may we receive strength to be strong, and thanks for the messages of condolence from our friends and my fans. I will share information of the burial in due course.”

Her passing comes off the back of recent news that the group will be making their long-awaited return to the music scene.

Last year, Bongani spoke to Daily Sun, stating, “I made the promise to keep the brand alive. Yes, there was a hiccup and a pause for about 10 years. I felt like the time was right because I was mentally and emotionally ready,” he explained.
