Bubble tea cravings? Here’s where to find the best sips

by Akhona Ndlela
PICTURE: PEXELS/ BUBBLE TEA

There’s just something about bubble tea that simply makes you return for more.

Every sip is an adventure, whether because of the countless flavour variations or the playful blend of silky-smooth tea with chewy tapioca pearls.

Sharetea states that this beverage was first made in Taiwan in the early 1980s and is also referred to as boba tea, pearl tea drink, or boba drink and that the concept of cold tea service was initially developed in the early 1980s by Liu Han-Chieh, who owned Chun Shui Tang, a tea shop. The invention of tapioca balls hoewver referred to as “boba” or “pearls,” came into play a bit later.

As you can tell by my extensive description of what you might say is just simple milk tea, I am definitely a fan, especially the strawberry creme brulee with popping tapioca pearls (yep, that’s a thing!).

Susu Bubble Tea

Susu Bubble Tea has been in the game since 2018 and has been serving us original and fresh bubble tea. You can find their stores at The Promenade in Camps Bay, Canal Walk, and Tygervalley just to name a few.
