It’s time to get excited! The coveted and highly popular Metro FM Music Awards (MMA) are back for their 19th season, and this time, they will be returning to take over the breathtaking Mbombela, Mpumalanga as they did last year.

The MMAs are among some of Mzansi’s most prestigious and significant awards ceremonies as they have formed part of an essential aspect of Mzansi’s entertainment industry for almost two decades now. These awards have played an integral part in appreciating and giving our well-deserved pioneers and custodians of mzansi’s entertainment industry, and have consistently done it at the highest level.

In collaboration with the Mpumalanga provincial government as well as the Motsepe Foundation, the MMA hosted a soiree where they launched this year’s edition of the ceremony, where they revealed a few important details that will be in effect at the ceremony in May.

Tonight, the highly-anticipated Metro FM Music Awards 2025 officially launched in Mpumalanga, revealing exciting details about this year’s ceremony!

Although SABC Group Executive Nada Wotshela boasts of hosting a successful showing last year, some users have voiced concern about the decline in the quality of the award shows that have been given to the people of South Africa to watch. The MMAs once boasted of being one of the most exciting shows that mzansi looked forward to, however, as of late, the hype seems to be dying down with each year that passes.

With amapiano sensations Kabza de Small and Mthunzi emerging as the biggest winners at last year’s edition, it will be interesting to see who will be the talk of the town at this year’s edition, as this past year has seen an exponential rise and globalisation of local genres and artists.
