If you are one of those women who has always desired to make an impact in the world and represent South Africa in the world of pageantry on a global scale, you can now certainly do so.

This comes as the Mrs South Africa organisation recently announced that entries for this year’s pageant competition are officially open.

Gone are the days when married women were not allowed to participate in international pageants. The event is one, that advocates for women of all ages backgrounds and ethnicities to come, express themselves and sweep judges off their feet, all while showcasing all they have to offer to South Africans and the world when it comes to making a difference.

Their objective is to break all stereotypes that aim to hold women back, with ageism being at the top of the list of stigmas they wish to shatter.

“Mrs. South Africa recognises the value of marriage, and the essence of being a ‘Bonafide’ woman. The program was created for married women who would ordinarily not have such a platform to compete and be ambassadors for South Africa, on a global scale. The organisation provides women with an opportunity to invest in themselves and to play a part in bettering the lives of those around them,” a statement explains.

Since its inception in 2011, the pageant focused on empowering married women to self-discovery, networking and building a sisterhood. They are taught valuable skills in leadership, financial management and communication and have had several success stories from those who have participated in the past.

Those looking to take the bold step of applying can do so through an online application process on the Mrs South Africa website.

The entry requirements are as follows:

  • Female, between the ages of 25 and 55 in 2024
  • Be legally married with a valid marriage certificate from the SA Department of Home Affairs
  • Be in possession of a valid South African Identity Document
  • There are no restrictions on educational background, height, weight, or tattoos
  • No prior pageant or modelling experience is required

Entries close on Monday, 27 January at 17h00.
