With travellers becoming more and more ecologically minded, hospitality providers are becoming more innovative in offerings with a low carbon footprint. So, get ready to punch your tickets, and make sure you are on the correct platform – here are some train routes for eco-conscious travellers.

Adria Intercity

An innovative Eastern Europe journey is the Adria InterCity train, connecting the Hungarian capital of Budapest to Split in Croatia.  The “Adria” InterCity runs directly between the two cities – run by the Hungarian State Railway company – taking 14 hours and covering 789 km and it snakes along the Adriatic Coast.

In Western Europe, travellers can take the daily Eurostar from London’s St Pancras International Station, and speed beneath the English Channel to reach Brussels, Paris, and Amsterdam in just a few hours. For perfect convenience, guests can start their journey with a night at the historic St Pancras Renaissance Hotel London in the heart of neighbouring King’s Cross station.

For those looking to visit Scotland, the West Highland Line sets off from Glasgow Central Station, crossing the famous Glenfinnan Viaduct — the 21-arch railway bridge that starred in the iconic Harry Potter movies. Adventure seekers can start their trip at the stylish Moxy Glasgow Merchant City, ideally located within walking distance of the train station and the city’s must-see galleries.
