Just five months after theatre director and poet Pesa Pheko was reported missing, his wife has been arrested in connection with his disappearance.

According to a statement released by the Free State SAPS, the renowned Bloemfontein artist was reported missing on the 10th of July, when he was last seen by family members leaving for a doctor’s appointment which he never returned from.

“At the time of his disappearance, he was wearing a long green bomber jacket, a pair of jeans, black sneakers and a grey beanie on his head. The family went to Botshabelo to report him missing, and the station launched a search operation,” says the statement.

Speaking to news publication, DailySun on the recent arrests made by SAPS including the poet’s wife and another alleged suspect, police spokesperson Sergeant Mahlomola Kareli said: “Investigations revealed new evidence that may shed light on what might have allegedly happened to the artist. The Provincial Organised Crime Unit team has been working tirelessly on the case, and their efforts paid off after the couple’s arrest.”

The spokesperson told entertainment publication, ZiMoja that these two alleged suspects would appear at Botshabelo Magistrates Court on charges of conspiracy to commit murder.

A close friend of Pesa expressed their relief when these findings were revealed as they still have great hope that their friend and former colleague will be found and justice will be served.
