This weekend was an experience to die for, as Hollywood Bets hosted their three-day Shamwari Cup 4 at the luxurious Val de Vie Estate on the Back’s in Cape Winelands.
With the theme being green and in the spirit of polo and fashion, attendees dressed to the ‘T’ as they enjoyed great music, amazing cuisines, and not to forget the Gin & Bubbly tasting.
You just had to be there to see who came out on top for the Shamwari Cup.
Despite it running for three days, I got to attend the Saturday fixtures at the Polo Pavillion field. Where I was greeted by an amazing staff who offered me a bubbly. The food throughout the day was nothing short of delicious as we were catered to by such sweet staff who made sure that we enjoyed our experiences.
Here we met other colleagues in the industry who explained that polo was more like soccer, but the only difference was that it was played by people on horses.
On the field, we were introduced to various gin and bubbly tastings from where you could taste the finer things in life by just producing a coupon, and given that it was my first time at a polo match it was more than I expected and would definitely recommend going back.
In April, Springbok star Eben Etebeth and his lovely wife Anila were announced as the Hollywood Bets brand ambassadors. At the time she added that these events always deliver in terms of fashion as people go all out with their outfits and accessories.
Another brand ambassador announced in 2022, former Bafana Bafana soccer player, Teko Modise added: “People should expect a very vibrant crowd of people with a premium quality whilst displaying elegance and appeal to match the sophisticated setting of the polo event. With spring upon us, the attendees can be as expressive as they can be and use colours that truly reveal their personalities. Polo events are like a mini-runway and accessories like sunglasses, handbags and jewellery are ideal to have on to emphasise the elegance and sophistication.”
