Denise Zimba reflects on a rollercoaster journey in celebration of 36th birthday

New age, new attitude – this is the way media personality Denise Zimba is choosing to live her life as she reflects on her journey.

After what may have been a difficult year for her, following her divorce from now ex-husband Jakob Schlichtig the actress and television presenter has taken time out to celebrate herself and how far she has come as she officially turned 36.

Her and Jakob have decided to get a divorce earlier this year, just months after tying the knot in 2022. According to various reports including the news and entertainment publication IOL, the reason for their divorce was allegedly because of infidelity on Jakob’s part.

In her court documents she also highlighted that the thing that added to her depression was how uninterested he was in taking care of his family responsibilities and helping with the children, this and many other factors has since led to her calling things off with her German lover and filing for divorce.

In a lengthy Instagram post, the former VUZU presenter wrote: “The best thing I could have ever done for myself was to walk away.”

She revealed that in the last year alone she has experienced several challenges including family troubles, the betrayal of close friends as well as abandonment from those she loved the most.

“I was lied to, stripped of everything I have built for myself… and now I have to start from the beginning.”

She emphasised that she was excited about what her new chapter will bring her and plans to do things differently for the sake of her daughters.

“My girls deserve a thriving mama, who respects herself enough to do right by herself.”
