Following his appointment as minister into the newly introduced Government of National Unity (GNU), Patriotic Alliance leader, Gayton Mckenzie has assumed his role making one bold statement, “You cannot have such an overweight Minister of Sports, Arts and Culture.”

After weighing well over 100 kilograms, he has since vowed to start becoming active and participating in daily walks and runs effort to shake off unwanted weight – and South Africans have been a part of his journey.

Recently, the proud businessman and author took some time out to update his followers on his progress. This comes at a time when he also celebrated being in office for 100 days.

Taking to social media platform X(formerly Twitter), he shared a post along with the caption:

“Today is my 100th day speech achievement speech. I started this weight journey when I was appointed as Minister of Sports, Arts and Culture. Please look after your health, I’m feeling much better. I did it, and my journey to health continues.”

In the video attached to the post, he says that he initially didn’t look like the minister of sport, but the minister of food.

Gayton added that his weight used to be 146.6kgs and after tracking his weight again, confidently revealed that he was now 131.6kgs, losing 15kgs in the past 100 days.

He later encouraged others that they too can achieve what they put their mind to.

“I did it, you can do it!” he said.
