WATCH: Xolani Khumalo’s bodyguards carrying guns sparks online debate

by Samantha Mochele

Former Sizok’thola presenter Xolani Khumalo was seen walking alongside a team of heavily armed bodyguards, causing a flurry of reactions across social media platforms.

For Xolani to employ armed bodyguards is rooted in the nature of his work, where he confronts and busts drug dealers.

As the video shared by @MDNnewss on X (formerly Twitter), viewers expressed a mixture of concern and curiosity. Many questioned the necessity of such an intense security detail.

The reaction on X was swift, with users sharing their thoughts and opinions on the matter. Some voiced their support for Xolani’s decision to prioritise safety, citing the risks associated with his job.

During a podcast episode of The Hustlers Corner SA with DJ Sbu and Podcast and Chill with MacG, Xolani revealed that he has been receiving death threats due to his efforts in fighting against drugs and exposing drug lords this has made him a “wanted man,” which understandably leads him to prioritise his safety.

Taking to the comments one user asked:

What is he being guarded for ?

Another concerned user said:

But is this thing of wielding big guns like this allowed @SAPoliceService @AthlendaM ?????

I would like to know.

Another user quickly came to Xolani’s defense adding:

He has body guards because as you all know he was taking down drug dealers and drug empires. So do you guys think that those drug lords will let him off the hook ??? He is protected by tax payers money because he contributed to society in a positive way by taking down drugs
