Boost your liver health with these healing foods

The liver is just one of many organs in the body that are crucial to maintaining general health. It is essential for metabolism, nutrient storage, and detoxification.

Food must support liver health for the liver to function at its best. Certain foods are known to support liver health and aid in its rehabilitation.

It is mentioned by the health-focused health publication Healthline that an important factor in maintaining liver health is diet. Compounds found in many foods have been demonstrated to help protect against fat accumulation, enhance liver enzymes, and reduce oxidative stress and inflammation.

The health publication further claims, “The liver is responsible for body processes from producing proteins, cholesterol, and bile to storing vitamins, minerals, and even carbohydrates.”

“Grapefruit contains antioxidants that naturally protect the liver. The two main antioxidants found in grapefruit are naringenin and naringin,” according to the health hub above.

The Cleveland Clinic states that the liver’s processing of various fats, proteins, and carbs for your body’s needs is one of its vital functions. You should therefore make sure that your diet contains a lot of nutritious proteins, such as chicken and fish.

Whether you choose to eat olives straight from the jar or use olive oil with a lemon squeeze as your go-to salad dressing, this salty fruit can improve the health of your liver. The two main nutrients that your liver loves are vitamin E and antioxidants, which are abundant in olives, the above clinic adds.

WebMD warns against too much sugar which can harm your liver. This is because it is responsible for converting sugar into fat. Overdoing it causes your liver to produce too much fat, which ends up in places it shouldn’t be.
