Msaki sets record straight regarding Smash Afrika alleged affair

by Limpho Nonkonyane

Allegations that surfaced on the internet have potentially ruined the life of South Africa’s most loved Afropop songstress Msaki after internet users labelled her as a “homewrecker” for her alleged relationship with Smash Afrika.

In 2022, the internet went crazy when allegations came out that Msaki and Smash Afrika were seeing one another later causing the divorce between Smash and his wife Kefiloe, the daughter of thespian Rumi Chuene.

According to KayaFM, Kefiloe came across love letters between Smash and Msaki, adding that, some relatives also saw them kiss.

The above-mentioned source adds that after these rumours came out Msaki released a statement speaking on quitting music.

“I cannot match their frequency by ever answering or defending their distortions. What breaks my heart is how much power we give these spaces and that is on us. We are sick. People have built careers on negativity and the irony is I feel their pain too because of this supple heart. Let me go try to be someone who is living out there. Let me go fetch my real life. Namaste Otherwise.”

Two years later, Msaki finally addressed the situation she defines as almost ruining her career. Going on actress and producer Relebogile Mabotja’s podcast she stated that she met Smash at an event where he interviewed.

During the interview, the Fetch Your Life hitmaker spoke candidly about her marriage, adding that, it was no longer working. She also stated that her relationship with the presenter started organically and grew from what it came to be.
