Nota Baloyi out on R5000 bail after rape charge

by Staff Bona
Artist manager Nota Baloyi has been released on R5,000 bail after spending the weekend behind bars.
Baloyi appeared at the Randburg Magistrate’s Court in Johannesburg on Monday, following his arrest on Friday, as reported by TimesLive.
The arrest is linked to a rape accusation brought forward by actress and singer Itumeleng Bokaba, with whom Baloyi said he previously had a romantic relationship. Bokaba laid the charge at the Douglasdale Police Station.
According to Sunday World, Baloyi’s lawyer, Matamela Khorommbi, stated that his client remained in good spirits despite the serious nature of the allegations.
The case has now been postponed to November 8, allowing the court to verify a series of WhatsApp messages exchanged between Baloyi and Bokaba which is key evidence in the investigation.
Baloyi’s release comes with strict bail conditions, as reported by Daily Sun.
These conditions include a direct order forbidding him from making any contact with Bokaba while the case is ongoing. Despite the gravity of the charges against him, Baloyi has maintained his innocence.
Following his release, Baloyi took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to express his gratitude and relief. “Thank you Lord… Thank you all for the prayers & support.
“I’ve been granted bail. I will prove my innocence & I will comply with all the conditions placed on me by the Randburg Magistrate Court today. My nightmare is over!”
The case continues to unfold, with both parties awaiting the next court date. As more information comes to light, the public’s interest in the case is expected to grow.
