Filmmaker and producer Duma ka Ndlovu is set to appear in court facing allegations of fraud and tax evasion that could have serious consequences for him and his co-accused.

According to SowetanLIVE, the state claims that Duma made misrepresentations in his income tax and corporate tax filings for his company, Ambrobrite resulting in a staggering loss of R25 million for the South African Revenue Service (SARS).

A source close to the case revealed to the news publication that Duma was originally scheduled to appear in court on 30 September but was delayed due to travel issues. Police reportedly attempted to arrest him at his home, but upon arrival, they only found his wife, who informed them that he was on his way to Johannesburg.

The source further shared that later in the day on 30 September, Duma made his way from the airport to the police station to hand himself over.

This case comes amid concerns back in 2023 regarding Dumi’s involvement in serious allegations related to the collapse of the SARS under former president Jacob Zuma’s administration. The ANC Veterans League has called on the Presidency to reconsider awarding Duma the Order of Ikhamanga until he is cleared of these allegations. ANC convenor Snuki Zikalala expressed deep concern as reported by News24.

Sowetanlive further wrote that Duma will face charges of non-submission of tax returns, fraud and tax evasion when he appears in court.
