Known for his illustrious career in the soccer industry, from being a player to a coveted coach in the PSL, Steve Kompela is currently making headlines after he was stopped by the Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD) while in one of his many sports cars.

According to motor enthusiasts, the car was identified as a Lamborghidi Spyda Auto, in the colour black. The extravagant car draws the attention of many wherever it goes, and it is no wonder the officers felt compelled to stop him.

Apart from a successful career, Steve Komphela has captured the hearts of many South Africans with his unexpectedly witty and carefree personality. Recently, the Mamelodi Sundowns assistant manager was pulled over by JMPD traffic officers, however not for a traffic violation, but merely because the officers felt inspired by the people’s coach.

In a cheerful conversation with Steve, the officers ask the ever-wise coach for any words of motivation he could possibly have for them, to which he responds, “The fire is inside. If you don’t take the fire from inside it can never come to you… so you must generate your own fire.”

Steve also indulged the officers in talks about the PSL highlighting Sundown’s current focus on going to play in the coveted FNB stadium. Furthermore, the coach stated the need for his team not to let their foot off the peddle as teams such as Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs are giving them a run for their money with their current form.

He then pulled off in style, showing off the power of his machine for the officers to admire.

Interactions such as these are always heartwarming, as they speak to the spirit of ubuntu that South Africans are grounded by. Coach Steve has made a name for himself as one of the more humble public figures, who gives everyone the same respect and humility.
