The highly anticipated DStv Delicious Festival has officially kicked off this past weekend. The list of performances includes a star-studded line-up which featured a whole list of homegrown and local talent.

Despite the build-up to the event being met with some disappointment after the withdrawal of American headliner Janet Jackson, other entertainers like Jason Derulo, Busta Rhymes and Jill Scott were able to deliver captivating performances.

However, not everything was glamorous this weekend. This comes as parts of Gauteng as well as KwaZulu-Natal endured some extreme weather conditions with large parts of each of the provinces being covered in snow.

Taking to X (formerly Twitter) one user expressed his disappointment at the organisers of the festival who failed to prepare and provide concertgoers with some form of protection from the cold.

The user wrote: “DStv Delicious they crazy. They didn’t even bother getting a Marquee for the main stage? Or even postpone.”

Soon after, renowned musician DJ Shimza came to the defence of the event organisers, writing:

“With all due respect and from a promoter’s point of view, there’s not much you can do with such weather that decided to take a turn 2/3 days before an event of that magnitude.

“By then you’re about 80 per cent done with everything, it’s unfair for people to have expected the Delicious to ‘get a marquee or even postpone.’ Very unfortunate but we hope for the best.”

Taking to the comment section many users stood in agreement with the prominent DJ.
