Four years since they’ve been together, two beloved Idols SA season 16 contestants Viwo Kulati and Brandon Dhludhlu have reunited to deliver a fresh new track. The dynamic duo, who captured hearts during their time on the show, have collaborated on their latest single, “Nguwe Wedwa.”
Viwo recently spoke with Daily Sun about her collaboration with Brandon and opened up about the inspiration behind “Nguwe Wedwa” and how the collaboration with Brandon came to be. “We’ve never tried to record together before but stayed in touch. I noticed we both released EPs around the theme of love. The shared theme made him a perfect fit for the song. I also feel our voices complement each other really well.”
Viwo spoke to the publication about the timing of the collaboration saying, “This is a love song dedicated to the people who stand by us and support our dreams. It encourages building together in relationships. I initially worked on the song with producer EX Magongo but felt the second verse needed a male voice, so I reached out to Brandon, and he agreed to join in.”

In 2020, Viwo released an EP centred around the theme of love, which has been a significant part of her musical journey.
In an interview with SowetanLIVE, she explained why discussing love was crucial to her. “I feel like through observations in our daily lives, we preach so much that we should love each other and we should be kind and all of that but we don’t practice it people still feel unloved. Whether it’s family settings, friendships or relationships the EP is a reminder again that we are nothing without love. Everything else doesn’t matter. We just need to love each other well.”
