Among these is the coastal town of Hermanus in the Western Cape. The town is best known for being a whale watching destination, beautiful beaches and being home to some of the most informative museums where you can expand your knowledge on marine life, the history of the town and its people.

Those looking to enjoy some time away from home can do so at one of many guests houses, and if entertainment is what you and your family want, then this is where you will get it. Hermanus is filled with adventurous activities that you will love and enjoy.

Activities for children

According to Hermanus Tourism, adults are not the only ones who benefit from visiting this beautiful town. But so can children. While here, Hermanus tourism highlights that there are multiple spots you can take your family to where your children will have a holiday to remember. These include the Banguela Cove Adventure Pirate Golf, Klein Rivier Farmstead, Wonderland Café and Rocklands petting farm.

Shark Cage Diving

Considered by many as the ultimate thrill, in Hermanus you are also given the opportunity to fellowship with the kings of the ocean – sharks.

“A thirty minute drive from Hermanus, Gansbaai is the shark-cage diving capital of the world. Between June and September, migrating great white sharks spend a few months around Dyer Island which is home to a colony of Cape fur seals – a great white’s favourite meal.”

While most people watch from behind the bars of a cage, Dirty Boots highlight that there is an option to explore from the top of the boat.
