Boity Thulo slams Vodacom rapid data loss

by Samantha Mochele

South African media personality Boity Thulo took to X (formally known as Twitter) to express her frustration with Vodacom, accusing the company of mishandling her data purchases.

The rapper revealed that she had repeatedly bought 12 gigabytes of data, only to find it depleted within a single day.

Boity’s tweet quickly went viral, drawing widespread attention and igniting a firestorm of comments from her followers.

In her post, Boity also shared screenshots of the text messages she received from Vodacom. These messages, which are typically sent to notify users of their remaining data balance, showed that her data was depleting much faster than expected.

In the comments on X, users voiced their own frustrations with Vodacom’s data services. Many shared their stories of their own rapid data depletion, echoing Boity’s concerns.

One user said:

That is why i left those scammers ?

I was spending more than 3k on data alone every month, and my airtime was 4k ???‍♂️

I moved to FNB connect and pay R470 for unlimited calls to all networks,

and MTN data contract for R399 for 200G.

I spend R870 monthly as compared to the…

Another user chimed in:

I thought I was the only one one my Data runs out even though I have WiFi at home and at work , I normally buy 10gig to use when I’m out of the house but within 2 days all gone this months alone I have already bought data 3 times …..@Vodacom ???? What the hell

Another added:

So, 2 × 12GB data packages didn’t even last 24 hours. Yeah, it’s tough. On my side, I’ve muted all WhatsApp statuses, turned off notifications for emails& all social media, including WhatsApp. There’s nothing I don’t do to reduce data charges, but still, my data runs out quickly.
