A well-known TikTok content creator Matthew Lani has hit rock bottom following his previous scandal. Matthew, who gained notoriety for impersonating a doctor has now found himself homeless and destitute after losing his apartment, car and all his belongings.

In an interview with Sunday World, Matthew explained that after losing his apartment, car and belongings due to the fallout from his impersonation scandal, he had been living with his mother at a residential building in Windsor East in Johannesburg.

“So, after losing my apartment, car, and everything else because of the Dr Matthew dilemma, I moved in with her in March,” said Matthew.

This comes after Matthew gained popularity on TikTok for his medical advice and HIV activism while presenting himself as a registered medical doctor. However, social media users soon began questioning the validity of his qualifications.

This led to a public frenzy and an investigation by the institution he claimed to have obtained his degree from. As a result, several institutions have since publicly distanced themselves from Matthew, exposing his false credentials.

Matthew further told the publication mentioned above that in July, the building owner issued his mother a notice to vacate the property. They refused to leave due to unpaid wages and had their attorneys argue that the eviction was illegal.

Matthew went to the police station for more information and was detained for three hours. He learned that the building was hijacked, and they were being accused of hijacking, homebreaking and tresspassing.

Meanwhile, the building owner threw their belongings onto the street, leaving Matthew and his mother homeless.
