The rise and fall of Pastor Enoch Phiri

Enoch Frank Phiri, known professionally as Enoch Phiri, is a prominent South African pastor and businessman. His journey is one of dedication, faith, and the challenges that come with a life devoted to ministry.

According to Drum, At 17, Enoch moved from Zambia to South Africa, starting his ministry and later marrying in 2002. His life seemed successful until about five years ago when he faced a divorce and developed an alcohol addiction.

However, about five years ago, Enoch’s world began to unravel. The end of his marriage and his subsequent alcohol addiction were significant blows. “I wasn’t drinking to enjoy myself, but I was numbing the pain of losing my family,” he told Drum.

The Daily Sun publication states that late last year Enoch discovered that his girlfriend, prophetess Thuli Shenxane, was married to another man just as he was preparing to marry her. Thuli locked Enoch out of his Waterfall apartment, leading him to call the police and security. Witnesses reported to the publication that Thuli caused a scene, hiding the keys in her pants and daring the authorities to retrieve them, knowing they could not physically touch her.

Responding to allegations reported by Daily Sun, Prophetess Thuli confirmed to ZiMOJA that her relationship with Enoch ended just months after it began. The breakup follows serious accusations from Thuli, who claims that Enoch’s struggles with alcohol and infidelity.

Through a challenging process of recovery, Enoch has been sober for years and attributes his healing to God’s grace and the support of those who helped him overcome his struggles.

“I felt like I was just a human who is messed up,” he told Drum, reflecting on his emotional and mental battles. His divorce and addiction taught him valuable lessons about the importance of mental well-being and family.

His current focus is on his pastor role and restored relationships, including supportive co-parenting with his ex-wife. He acknowledges the past mistakes of neglecting his family and now values presence and availability over material success.
