The KwaMashu-born Skhindi Ngcobo, who used to be a taxi driver, never gave up on his dream and now he’s making waves as a rapper, turning his passion for music into a successful career.

According to the Daily Sun, Skhindi was only 22 years old when he realised that his calling was in music, that’s when he started recording and releasing freestyle rap videos. After quickly gaining momentum with his videos, he was featured on TV shows such as Uzalo and retail platforms such as TFG clothing stores.

Skhindi’s journey to fame is anything but ordinary. His days as a taxi driver were filled with the rhythms and beats of hip-hop, transforming every commute into a live performance. Passengers were treated to a live rap session, making his taxi rides a unique experience in KwaMashu and many people knew his song.

“Every passenger that’s taken my taxi knows this song and everyone has always had the same reaction when this song plays and that’s how I just knew, “He told the publication.
