South African DJ and record producer, Themba Sekowe popularly known as DJ Maphorisa, recently issued a statement apologising to fans who may have been disappointed after he missed two gigs that were in East London and Mthatha in the Eastern Cape.
Known for hits such as Manzi Nte, Shona Kwelanga, Ba Straata and Asibe Happy; the deejay was booked at SoWhat Lounge and Vegas Bar and Eatery on Saturday, the 20th of July. However, he could not make it because of flight issues. According to the statement, Maphorisa was travelling from Port Elizabeth; now known as Gqeberha when he met these uncontrollable circumstances.
He said in the statement, “The flight back from Port Elizabeth this afternoon with FlySafair, flight FA363 was delayed and as a result, we could not make it on time for our next flight. We explored all available options to make sure we make it to the gigs but unfortunately, we were unsuccessful.”
In the statement Maphorisa promised that his promoters and his team would work on a new performance date, to make it up to his fans and supporters.
