Sfiso Mhlanga, the man serving a life sentence for the murder of South African reggae icon Lucky Dube, has expressed deep regret over his actions. The musician was shot in a suburb south of Johannesburg.

According to BrieflyNews, Bra Mandla, Sfiso’s former cellmate, the convicted killer has admitted that he made a grave mistake. Bra Mandla narrated what happened when Sfiso mistakenly shot Lucky, thinking that the singer was drawing a gun.

It was reported that three gunmen shot the well-known reggae musician as he dropped off his son in the Rosettenville suburb of Johannesburg.

State witness Mpho Maruping said her husband, Thabo Maruping had confessed his involvement in Lucky’s hijacking and gave details to the Johannesburg High Court on what led to the multi-award-winning superstar’s death. Thabo was initially charged with Lucky’s murder but turned state witness.

The three men responsible for the failed carjacking that resulted in Lucky’s death were all sentenced to life in prison. Sfiso, one of the killers, has since expressed remorse according to his former cellmate. This revelation was shared in a video posted on X by user @ThisIsColbert.
