Internet users inspired by 21-year old’s R40K mobile kitchen

Starting a business is considered a financial risk given that sometimes people do not have the funds to run their business, but it was different for 21-year-old Khumo Atlegang Mbatha who took a risk and opened her mobile kitchen.

At just 21 Khumo, is now a two-time business owner as she started her food business The Smash ‘n Grill Box using the username @smashngrill_box on TikTok, selling burgers and various fast food meals.

According to BrieflyNews, Khumo used the money she made from her skincare products and paid R40k for her food truck. Her business which is based in Hatfield, Pretoria has gained massive popularity from internet users on the platform her meals look very delicious.

She told the above-mentioned source, “The biggest challenge I have faced was getting documentation for the kitchen and getting a good location to trade,” adding, “Even after receiving documentation and finding a good spot, I had to fight because, as a young black female, there will be people trying to shut you down and come in the way of your success, but with dedication, hard work and persistence, I am overcoming those challenges daily.”

Many TikTok users took to the comment section to congratulate the creator on her new business venture while asking for the business location and her food prices.

One user commented: “Do you sell every day? I am a University of Pretoria student and I walk on Prospect daily but I have never seen your mobile,” the creator responded that she opens Tuesday to Saturday.

Another user said: “Well done and all the best on your business venture.”
