It appears that American artists continue to play a big role in terms of the impact they have on the South African Hip Hop and entertainment scene.

Recently, renowned rapper and record producer, Mthembeni Ndevu popularly known as Emtee, expressed the emptiness he felt following the passing of award-winning rapper Takeoff.

Takeoff was one of the members of the American rap trio popularly known as The Migos.

The rapper whose real name is Kirsnick Khari Ball, died in November 2022 in Houston Texas. He lost his life following a verbal altercation after which a fight broke out, which resulted in a shooting and ultimately his death.

While November this year marks two years since his passing, the 18th of June marked what would have been his 30th Birthday.

Taking to his Instagram page the Ghetto Hero hitmaker, shared a post in which he remembered the fellow artist.

In the caption of his post which was accompanied with a picture of Takeoff, he wrote:

“My favourite Migo.”

“I loved you like I knew you. Your silence spoke volumes. You really rapped your *ss off, people were too lazy to listen to what you were saying in your music. Rest in peace Take. Happy Birthday, Kid.”

Further honouring Takeoff, he shared a picture showing off his latest tattoo in remembrance of the rapper – a rocket, ready launching off the ground.
