‘I will have no choice but to pursue legal action,’ Nara Smith responds to accusations of stealing content

by Sergio Miller

Renowned TikToker Nara Smith has clapped back at those accusing her of stealing creative ideas from fellow content creator and chef Onezwa Mbola and using them as her own.

Both creatives have a massive following on the social media platform, however, things recently turned sour between the two when Onezwa addressed the fact that she was constantly compared to Nara because of her content niche.

Frustrated by the constant references, the 2022 Master Chef SA contestant took to Instagram to clear things up, once and for all.

“The reason I’m taking a break is that for months I have watched a very popular content creator use my ideas,” said Onezwa.

“She has continuously used my ideas to get views. That would be fine except in SA we don’t get paid for views, and where she is (Germany) they are paid for views. She has been making money by stealing my content,” Onezwa said in an emotional video.

In one of her recent TikTok posts, the 22-year-old shared a video of one of her latest inventions, Boba tea. According to Onezwa, this was a recipe she introduced only to find that Nara posted a similar version of it the following day.

This raised some heavy alarm bells in the minds of internet users, with many eventually finding the boldness to enquire about weather Onezwa’s version of events were true.

Taking to the comment section one user asked Nara whether she was copying Onezwa’s idea, she denied it, saying:

“This one (boba tea recipe) I just Googled! But usually, I come up with a lot of them.”

Following the accusations, Nara has also communicated with Onezwa via e-mail in which she urged the well-known chef to retract as it is said to have affected her reputation.

“These alleged allegations are entirely false. The videos in question are not my original creations, and I have necessary proof of this on the social media platform TikTok.”

“This email serves as a formal notice that if you do not retract your statements and cease making these defamatory claims immediately, I will have no choice but to pursue legal action against you for defamation of character.”
