Following the recent post showing Springbok winger Cheslin Kolbe promoting American Youtuber Logan Paul’s Prime, fans of the player have since pleaded with the star to not get involved in promoting the “failed” energy drink.

With South African athletes being well-known for collaborating with multiple sports and lifestyle brands, the 30-year-old, world cup winner recently took to his Instagram to share one of his recent collaborations with a brand that somewhat fell out of favour when it comes to the South African consumer market – Prime.

Recently he shared a picture and wrote in the caption: “Thrilled to be joining the Prime family – let’s go.”

Attached to the post was a picture of Cheslin holding the beverage with the green and gold background paying tribute to his Springbok success.

“Team Prime” and “Welcome to the team,” commented Logan Paul.

Despite being a popular favourite in the hearts of South African rugby lovers, many found themselves disapproving of Cheslin’s recent partnership.

“Please reconsider your decision, Prime really is not the way to go,” commented one user.

Another user wrote: “No way bro, these drinks cost R6 here.”

While a third person wrote: “That stuff is terrible – I respect you too much to have to associate you with that horrible stuff. They’ve reduced the price so many times, it now costs R10. Even water costs more.”

However, others continue to support the two-time World Cup winner no matter what and have encouraged him not to take note of the negative comments.

“Say what you guys want, Cheslin is a goat,” wrote one person.

“People hating for no reason, proud of you Cheslin!”

Following a successful first season at the Japanese rugby club, Suntory Sungoliath, the winger recently returned to South Africa and was named in coach Rassie Erasmus’ training squad for the 2024 international rugby season.
