In a world where so many guys struggle with the gruelling effects of experiencing irritation, razor burns and bumps caused by shaving, having a good quality aftershave is essential to ensuring that your skin is left in perfect condition.

Reputable skincare company Bulldog Skincare explains that a good quality plays an important role in to providing a much desired confidence booster in the lives of men.

“The purpose of an aftershave is to hydrate the skin once you have shaved, quite literally after shave.

“This is because shaving can dry out the skin and cause it to feel tight and even a little prickly. That feeling is caused by a lack of moisture in the skin.,” explains the above-mentioned source.

In addition, many men who do use certain brands of after shave often complain that they often still find themselves facing overwhelming amounts of irritation. This is why men’s lifestyle publication Gentleman’s Gazette recommends checking the products you use to see if they contain ingredients that would work well with your skin type.

“Look for all natural ingredients, and stay away from dyes and synthetic fragrances. They can cause irritations and allergic reactions.”

Meanwhile, “natural ingredients such as plant and mineral extracts, nut and vegetable oils, wax and essential oils are biodegradable and work in harmony with the body’s natural functions and cycles,” explains Gentleman’s Gazette.

The above-mentioned source explains that there are three different aftershave that are all suitable for various skin types, these are as follows:

Normal Skin – Use a balm

It is said that balms provide the perfect moisture when uses on normal to oily skin in humid conditions.

Dry skin – Choose natural oils

Alcohol has the power to create even more dryness on the surface of your skin, instead opt for natural oils like hazelnut or almond.

Sensitive skin – Use unscented products

“It is better to use an unscented aftershave balm or one that’s scented with natural essential oils such as lavender, rose, or orange that do not cause skin irritation.”
