Connie remembers Shona Ferguson as a man of impact

Former Generations actress Connie Ferguson has spoken fondly about the type of person her late husband Shona was before his passing in 2021.

The talented actress recently made her appearance on DJ Fresh’s YouTube podcast called WAW: What A Week where she reflected on some of the special moments which left her standing in awe of the father of two.

According to multiple reports by media outlets including Kaya FM and Sunday World, the two met in Johannesburg in 2001. It is reported that Shona dropped a friend where Connie was living, but before he left, he kindly requested a glass of water served by Connie, and the rest was history.

The two married in a traditional ceremony and have been together for just over 20 years.

The love story has previously been compared to that of the American couple Beyonce and Jay-Z as they continued to pursue excellence in all they did and launched several businesses together, including a production company, Ferguson Films, as well as the Ferguson Film School.

Despite having a big impact, the actor passed away in July 2021 after suffering Covid-19 complications.

In her interview with DJ Fresh, Connie reflected on his impact, saying:

“He lived a full life, he was 47 [when he died], but he lived a full life.

“I know he did not want to go at that age, I know he fought. I am so proud of that guy, even today. If there is anything his life taught me, it is just to live.”

The actress further added that it was impossible not to love Shona.

“He touched people’s lives. I saw what I saw when I was with him, but there was also so much that I didn’t see that I had to learn about from the people who spoke about him.”

Connie highlighted that her late husband was a man for the people and made positive contributions wherever he found himself.

“People who had the opportunity to speak to me directly said, ‘Thank you for sharing your husband with us.’”
