Johannesburg-born superstar Tyla is continuing to make history. After becoming the youngest South African to win a Grammy, Tyla is now the first artist to secure herself a total of seven spots on the Billboard Afrobeats chart.
On 22 March, Tyla released her 14-track, self-titled debut album, which received a positive response from music fans. The release of her album even had music mogul Beyoncé’s attention, who sent the songstress flowers and a card that read the following:
“Tyla, congrats on your beautiful, new album. Keep killing it. All my love, Beyoncé.”

Besides receiving millions of streams on prominent music-streaming platforms such as Spotify and Apple Music, Tyla is also dominating the international charts.
Seven of Tyla’s songs have been placed in the top 10 on Billboard’s Afrobeats chart, with her debut single Water still taking the number one spot. According to East Coast Radio, the viral song has been featured on the Afrobeats chart for a total of 106 weeks.
From numbers three to six is Truth or Dare, ART, No.1 featuring Nigerian award-winning singer Tems and Jump featuring rapper Gunna and deejay Skillibeng.
The last two songs which have charted in the top 10 are Safer at number eight and On My Body featuring Becky G at number 10.
