While the country’s eyes have been fixed on the alleged perpetrators involved in the brutal killing of AKA, the slain rapper’s bodyguard – Anwar ‘Dogg’ Khan has come to the fore to explain where he was on the day of the murder.
Owner of the private security agency, The Pentagon Group, Anwar has provided his services to both local and international personalities, including award-winning rappers Kendrick Lamar and Chris Brown, as well as South Africa’s own DJ Tira.
Appearing on the local podcast, The Load Shed Podcast, Anwar spoke to hosts Josh Dukwah and Chaka Ngubane about his experience as a bodyguard, while also sharing that he was assisting an international celebrity when the Don’t Forget To Pray hitmaker was killed.

“I was working with Bas [A French-born American rapper signed to J. Cole’s Dreamville Records],” stated Anwar, who also shared that he works with many artists under the record label.
“This is what messes up these schedules. An international artist is booked three or four months in advance, so he ties me down … The local artists, today is Thursday. He can get a call to perform on Saturday. So, you are looking for me and tell me you are performing on Saturday and today is Thursday, and I have Dreamville three months in advance.”
Anwar further stated that international celebrities often contract him and not his company. “I had to do that job because I was contracted to do that job.”
