‘Suddenly the pigs have information during an election year’ – Siv Ngesi and Nota weigh in

by Sergio Miller

Despite the Kwa-Zulu Natal police having made a breakthrough in closing in on the suspects involved in the murder of Hip Hop rapper AKA, real name Kiernan Forbes, and his long-time friend, celebrity chef Tabello ‘Tibz’ Motsoane – many are suspicious of the timing of the sudden progress.

The deceased victims passed away on the 10th of February last year after both were fatally shot in a hit-and-run assassination while exiting Durban’s Wish restaurant which was situated on Florida Road.

While this year marked a year since their passing, Tabello’s grieving father Sylvester Motsoane earlier this month told public news broadcaster eNCA that he never received any communication from Bheki Cele nor the investigating officer at the time.

However, just 18 days after the first anniversary marking their passing, seven suspects were arrested, two in Eswatini and five in South Africa.

In spite of this, many people believe that the breakthrough has simply come because this year marks the National elections.

Taking to X (formerly Twitter) well -known actor and comedian Siv Ngesi shared these sentiments while questioning the motive behind the sudden acceleration in solving the murder.

In one post he asked the public whether they trust the police now – followed by another, writing:

“Suddenly the pigs have information during an election year … surprise surprise #JusticeForAKA.”

To these many of his followers stood in agreement, highlighting that their suspicions were the same.

Exactly what I thought ?. I hope people don’t loose focus.

When I said this to someone. They said I’m a pessimist.

Meanwhile, another person who seems to be sceptical is the highly controversial Nota Baloyi.

Taking to his X account Nota added:

Before Bheki Cele speaks, the fourth suspect was rearrested today after going out on bail in January… Please let me know, if he mentions that. Very detailed case handed in for the extradition request.
