EFF’s Carl Niehaus ‘deeply disappointed’ with lack of white South Africans at Bafana homecoming

Upon their return home from the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), Bafana Bafana received a warm welcome from hundreds of supportive South Africans at the airport, including the men and women in red from the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF).

Amongst the crowd at OR Tambo International Airport was EFF member Carl Niehaus, who later expressed his detestation for the lack of white South Africans who were not present.

Sharing his feelings in a lengthy post on X (formerly Twitter), Carl wrote, “AIKONA WHITE SOUTH AFRICANS! I am deeply disappointed, actually disgusted, with white South Africans! When the Springbok rugby team did well and won the Rugby World Cup, black South Africans embraced them so warmly and, in their thousands, turned out to celebrate the Springboks’ victory.”

He continued, “Now that Bafana Bafana, our national soccer team, did so well and won bronze at AFCON, white South Africans are GLARINGLY ABSENT in celebrating their success and embracing our nationhood.”

Carl said that as far as he could see, he was the only South African present, who happened to be white, who was standing alongside EFF supporters and black South Africans to welcome the team home.

Carl concluded, “Honestly, white South Africans must now really make up their minds if they want to be part of our nation. Currently, the message from the majority of whites is that they do not want to be part of our nation. They must understand that such myopic, arrogant and self-centred conduct will have serious consequences for their future in our country. Some very serious introspection is required by white people!”
