Major League DJz end Ghana residency due to non-payment

Brothers Banele and Bandile Mbere who make up the amapiano musical duo Major League DJz will no longer perform in Ghana this year as a result of payments owed to them since last year.

The twin brothers were part of the Amapiano Mondays residency line-up in Ghana’s capital city, Accra, for 19 and 26 December last year and 2 January this year.

Taking to their Instagram Stories on Tuesday, Banele and Bandile announced, “Me and my brother would like to inform you that we will not be doing our residency in Ghana this year [due] to @bondai.gh [a restaurant and bar] not paying us a single cent from our residency last year. I know everyone has been asking but they have left us with a very bad taste about coming to Ghana. It’s been a whole year and nothing.”

The BAKWA LAH hitmakers thanked their fans for their support and reassured them that they have nothing but love for the country and the movement they had started, “but people like @bondai.gh take advantage of people who are always trying to do good.”

A screenshot of the post was shared on X (formerly Twitter), and the brothers further responded, “Sad but this is our reality. Such an amazing movement for the culture, and our governments are on such good terms. We don’t even need visas to go from SA to Ghana and vice versa.”
