On Sunday more than 80 000 Capetonians gathered on a beautiful spring afternoon to celebrate all things music, dance, and fun as the City of Cape Town ushered its citizens into the festive season with a hot line-up of local talent.

The event is held annually, and this year was the 54th time that residents of the Mother City could sit back and enjoy the free-for-all events.

The MCs on the day were well-known actors Maurice Paige and Jill Levenberg who are well known for their roles in the popular kykNET & Kie soapie – Suidooster. The duo was instrumental in their job at keeping Cape Town entertained and even shared a personal testimony of what the moment of being approached to MC meant for them as well.

Also on stage was TikTok singing sensation Whitney April. The young singer rose to prominence in 2020 after gaining the attention of TikTokers because of her singing abilities.

Since then, she has also signed an international contract and released her very first single – Fighters. The song, which is aimed at inspiring the youth, did exactly that as Whitney received a warm welcome from the crowd.

Then there was also the showstopper himself – Cassper Nyovest, who wowed the crowd with his presence with many sharing that it was much better seeing him perform in real life.
