The City of Cape Town will be hosting award-winning artists Cassper Nyovest and Focalistic as they headline this year’s 54th edition of the Festive Lights Switch-on.

Actors Jill Levenberg and Maurice Paige, along with radio personality Carl Wastie will guide the free-to-attend event which will take place on the Grand Parade on Sunday, 26 November.

According to Cape Town Mayor Geordin Hill-Lewis, this year’s theme is ‘City with a Future of Hope.’

Attendees will also be able to enjoy the melodic sounds of Ikamva Marimba Band as well as Alistair Izobell, who started his professional career in the theatre as part of the Kramer-Petersen musical, District Six, in 1987.

Other acts include Whitney April, who will resonate with her signature charm and strong messages of hope alongside internet sensation, 12-year-old Yonwaba Qetswana, Woodstock-born artist Ricky Vani Frontline, South African Music Awards (SAMAs) winner Matthew Mole, rock ‘n roll Afrikaans band, RAAF, Hanover Park’s cultural singing troupe, Tjommies, and local reggae band, The Rivertones.

DJ Eazy with special guest, nine-year-old DJ Sophia, will also be in attendance to entertain the crowd.

The City’s Mayoral Committee Member for Safety and Security, Alderman JP Smith, stated, “The stage is set for a stellar line-up of artists who will add to the excitement and magic of the event. This year’s switch-on is going to be one for the books and I look forward to seeing locals and visitors come and celebrate the start of the festive season with us.”
