How to cope in a relationship with no sex

Sex is a very important component of a relationship as it also strengthens your bond as a couple. When that important component is not fulfilled by one partner for whatever reason, the other partner may find that challenging, especially if the relationship had a healthy sex life before.

People’s sexual appetites differ, some can go on for months and even years without it, while some would rather engage in it every second day.

In cases where both partners cannot be bothered by the lack of sex in their relationship all is well, but, if one partner needs to make a decision due to them finding a challenge in the sexless relationship, that might be a serious issue shares mental and behavioural science hub Psychology Today.

When faced with this dilemma, the mental and havioural hub suggests that you urge your partner to go with you or go alone – if your partner has been trying to deal with the issue, counselling can help him or her find more solutions.

Relationship counsellor Simone Bose at independent health hub Netdoctor shares that at times lack of sex in a relationship can actually be about something else.

“If there is an issue and you do feel you need more from your partner, it might be you’re not feeling emotionally connected,” adds the doctor.

The sexually frustrated one can go outside the relationship openly or tacitly – if both of you are still committed to the sexless relationship allowing the one partner to fulfil their sexual needs outside the relationship be the solution, shares the hub.

Another option would be to leave the relationship shares Psychology Today.
