Watch: East London woman tries to kiss Siya during parade

Springboks captain and father of two Siya Kolisi saw himself trending after an East London woman  jumped on him, trying to kiss him during the East London leg of the World Cup trophy tour the past weekend.

The Springboks were on a 4 city World Cup trophy parade which began in our capital city Pretoria, moving to Cape Town, Durban and finally East London. This was in celebration of their World Cup win against old time rivalry New Zealand in Paris, France on October, 28.

Happening infont of a crowd of people, the woman saw her chance and took it, aggressively grabbing our ‘national asset’  by the neck and aiming for his mouth.

Seen in the video, an angry Siya grabbed her and moved through the crowd while police officers who jumped to Siya’s defence moved along with Siya.

It is not clear what happened to the woman after the disturbing video that not only violated Siya’s human rights but seen by many as disrespectful considering that Siya is a married man.

Shared on X (formerly Twitter) by many social media users including user @anelefumba the video trended on social media.

Some social media users commented stating that Siya was publicly sexually harassed, adding that something should be done to the woman for her behaviour the same way it would have if done by a man.

Seriously, this is sexual harassment/assault. If a man did this to a female sports person, there’d be an uproar. A message needs to be sent through criminal charges.

Siya is clearly being sexually harassed, in full view everyone. I’m not understanding how instead of calling it out, men are saying “if the tables were turned”. Well the tables are not turned, here’s the situation as it is now, why are you not saying anything?

People don’t understand boundaries….this man’s married

Others found the video humourous stating that the woman celebrated before her win, even closing her eyes ready for the kiss:

Pray that nothing should stop you from succeeding when you’re this close usisi had already closed her eyes ? pic.twitter.com/vrKT2smX0k

I’m dzeadzzzz with laughter. This lady seriously had a mission. @SiyaKolisi skills to duck a kiss from this lady was incredible reflux moment. Well done ?? Siya. Your wife should be proud.
