Mzansi received exciting news regarding one of South Africa’s most popular music genres amapiano when SABC 1 announced that the second annual Amapiano Awards will be making a comeback to our screens.

This award ceremony serves as a milestone to celebrate and pay homage to artists and deejays that have graced our dancing scenes and introduced us to new dance moves,

According to The Conversation – an in-depth research analysis on the issues affecting our world curated by professional editors – this dance genre is defined as “a soulful mix of grooves, sonic textures and moods that can be by turns hectic, smooth, melodic or simply enchanting.” Further stating that it may be characterised by its unique percussive bass.

The Second Annual Amapiano Awards were initially set to take place on 2 April at the Sun Bet Arena in Pretoria, however after the postponement of the award ceremony had been publicly announced, amapiano enthusiasts took to social media platforms to share their distress over this subject.

Many fans are still hoping that the award ceremony will be hosted by none other than Robot Boii- who is also a nominee in one of the award categories – followed by many electrifying performances by the masters of the genre as well as new amapiano artists to the industry.

One of the most gripping nominations that have viewers and supporters in suspense is The Amapiano Artist of the Year. The nominees are inclusive of Felo Le Tee, Focalistic, Kabza Da Small, Kelvin Momo, DJ Maphorisa, Musa Keys, Pabi Cooper, Toss, Uncle Waffles and Young Stunna.
