Social media personality Thulasizwe ‘Lasizwe’ Dambuza won big on the reality competition series The Perfect Picture. Dedicating the win to his late mother, Lasizwe shared with BONA what he plans to do with the prize money.

Lasizwe joined the cast of The Perfect Picture after receiving a call from one of the show’s producers. “He [the producer] basically challenged me to be behind the camera, as opposed to being in front of the camera,” says the actor.

The cast participated in many challenges, with a trip to Lesotho being one of Lasizwe’s best memories on the show. He says, “I took a photo of an old lady, and her wrinkles tell such a story. It was also so cold in Lesotho, and there is a photograph of a woman I captured with her being behind a fire which she made to keep herself warm. It was extremely heartwarming and sad at the same time.”

Taking to Instagram to announce his win, Laziswe captioned his post, “WHAT????????? I DID IT?! Dilo di changitse… I just won this reality show. #ThePerfectPictureSA. MY HEART, MY SWEAT AND TEAR!!! ? THIS ONE IS FOR YOU MOM. WE DID IT!!! OH MY GOSH?.”

When asked to elaborate on his reason for dedicating his win to his late mother, Lasizwe shared that losing his mother at a young age has been a very traumatic experience for him. “Every day, I wish she was here to celebrate my achievements and accomplishments as I know she would have been incredibly proud of me.”

The whole of Mzansi was proud of Lasizwe after he was awarded the coveted The Perfect Picture trophy along with a check for R150,000 and R100,000 worth of Canon gear.

Sharing what he plans to do with the prize money, the star said, “It is important for me to give back to the community and to people who have supported me over the years. I will be donating a portion of the winnings towards my yearly spectacle initiative, which is where I help my fans with the gift of sight by having their vision corrected with a pair of new spectacles.”

He added, “In addition, I come from a large family with eight siblings. Their love and support means everything to me, and so I will also use the winnings to help my family.”
