“Lockdown 2nd round soon, it’s happening overseas,” warns DJ Sbu

by Bongiwe Mati

MoFaya energy drink owner and podcaster DJ Sbu took to his social media to share news no South African wants to hear. The DJ announced that there might be a return of lockdown alleging that it was already happening in other countries.

In 2020, the world came to a standstill after the arrival of the corona virus which led many people to losing family members, their assets and their jobs.

Sharing the devastating news on his X (formerly known as Twitter), the former TS Records co-owner shared:

“Lockdowns 2nd round soon. It’s happening overseas. Clearly sekunjalo (it’s like that). Get ready Hustlers. Don’t spend your money. Prepare your business for challenging times ahead. I might be wrong. This is not an official message, I’m suspecting & taking precautions. Just be responsible with your money guys.”

Social media users flooded the comment section asking for the DJ to not share news that will cause panic before shared by officials. Some voiced out that the country will not survive another lockdown while still dealing with loadshedding.

This is causing unnecessary panic and it’s not alright my leader, such messages should stay there by WhatsApp with your people.

Let the government be the one to make such announcements.

I agree that people must be frugal in spending money. We lost a thriving family business on the verge of a breakthrough in 2020. I just don’t think our economy can survive another lockdown. Lockdowns are not the solution. Herd immunity is the solution. We need a forward thinking…
