Makhadzi addresses body shaming comments

by Staff Bona

South African music star Makhadzi took to social media to deal with body shamers, where she acknowledged her “big nose” and expressed her frustrations with the constant reminders.

The talented artist took to Facebook where she made two posts, writing a statement saying she knows she has a big nose and that all she wanted to do was to announce her new album.

“I know I have a big nose. Stop reminding me. All I said was, I am dropping the album next week Friday. Only that,” she said in the first post.

“Tomorrow, I’m going to cut my nose, so that when I talk about my album, no one will have something to say about my looks,” she said in a follow-up post.

According to The South African, the body shaming is an alleged response to to a recent concert, where Winky D had taken centre stage for a staggering 80 minutes, while Makhadzi and Jah Prayzah shared a comparatively shorter 40 minutes.

Makhadzi’s response, defending her right to be treated with respect, was both powerful and necessary. Her decision to address body shamers head-on was a reminder that artists, like everyone else, deserve kindness and courtesy, irrespective of their appearance or stage time.

“Winky D performed for 80minutes, Makhadzi and Jah Prayzah shared 40mins…..Makhadzi and Jah Prazah must be grateful to have shared the stage with the greatest artist of All Time.”
